What We Do

East Greenbush Kiwanians are a fun, eclectic mix of ages, genders, occupations, backgrounds and interests! We share a singular passion: to make our local community, our country and our world a better place in which children can happily live and thrive. We do this by way of unique and innovative service projects, fundraisers and other initiatives, and we are always seeking new ways in which to serve. We invite you to join our efforts – whether it be as an event participant, volunteer or a member!

Comedy Night – Our largest fundraiser each year

Every April, we hold a Comedy Night. It is our biggest fun(d) raiser of the year. It is always sold out. The MC and main organizer is East Greenbush Kiwanian and local professional comedian, Steve VanZandt. Proceeds support our efforts in the community.

Annual Tennis Clinic

In June of 2023, we held our second annual tennis clinic. It was free to East Greenbush students and almost 30 students participated. Many play for the first time while others are there to improve their skill. The East Greenbush School District tennis coach facilitated the clinic, while Kiwanians planned, organized and assisted. Columbia High tennis team members assisted the coach in giving lessons.

Touch a Truck

In October, we organized an event at Becker’s Farm for children to get close to trucks of all kinds and sizes. Food vendors were on hand and Kiwanis Kids did face painting. Look for it again this Fall!

Ronald McDonald House

East Greenbush Kiwanis prepares meals at Ronald McDonald House every three months for young, critical care Albany Med patients and their families.

Bike With a Cop

Bike With a Cop is an opportunity for children to learn bicycle safety from local officers and ride the Electric Trail with their parents or guardian. Afterwards, the officers treat you to hot dogs and beverages.

Street Soldiers

Our members participate in providing food and clothing for Street Soldiers and attending their monthly distribution event in Rensselaer.

Halloween Children’s Parade

Easter Egg Hunt

Parents get a scavenger hunt sheet of businesses with Kiwanis Easter eggs out front at the East Greenbush Library or East Greenbush Y.M.C.A. They go to the businesses listed with their child and take their picture with the eggs and post it on our facebook page to be entered for prizes.

Kiwanis Builders Club Sponsor

Our Kiwanis club brings in food and treats and recognizes, supports and encourages the kids, through example, so they feel empowered to do great things in their communities. We support Builders Club service projects, facilitate the Builders Club meetings, provide mentorships. We sponsor the are school’s Kiwanis Builders clubs.

Kiwanis Key Club Sponsor

Key Club is the high schoolers’ version of Kiwanis. Our club donates to them and assists them with their projects. Pizza, certificates, pens and ice cream coupons! We honor student achievements through their deeds and actions at school. We are currently sponsoring the following Key Clubs:
